Senators Eye Tobacco Ban At World Series - Health News Story - WGAL The Susquehanna Valley
U.S. senators and health officials from Texas and St. Louis are urging the players union to agree to ban chewing tobacco at World Series games between the Cardinals and Rangers.
Separate letters from both cities were sent to union head Michael Weiner citing health concerns and the bad precedent being set for children as the main concerns with players being seen on camera using chewing tobacco.
Senators and other government officials have taken it a step further, asking that a tobacco ban be included in the new collective expiring agreement, which expires in December.
The Cardinals and Rangers open the World Series on Wednesday.
